Overview

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray remains one of the most iconic performance cars in the industry, showing off a distinctive aerodynamic style that never fails to turn heads. While the Corvette has changed many times in nearly 60 years on the market, its desirability hasn’t faltered because of its ability to evolve so effortlessly. The last major changes occurred in 2019 with a brand-new mid-engine layout and a switch to only offering a high-performance dual-clutch automatic transmission, with no option for a manual. For 2022, Chevy has added a limited-run C8.R Edition, which was designed to commemorate the Corvette’s winning status in motor sports.

Trims and Performance

The ’22 Corvette is a rear-drive, mid-engine sports car that’s available as either a coupe or convertible. It’s sold in three trims: 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT. Under their hood is a mighty 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 490 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque (495 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque with the Performance Exhaust or Z51 Performance packages). Its powertrain partner is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Corvettes with the Z51 Performance Package can reach 60 mph from 0 in a mind-bending 2.9 seconds.

Athletic and Luxurious Attributes

The ’22 Corvette has the expected supply of both performance features along with some touches of luxury. The 1LT’s performance elements include Brembo brakes, a limited-slip rear differential, power-adjustable GT1 sport seats, and 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires. It also gets remote start, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, LED headlights, keyless entry, push-button ignition, a 12-inch gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped and power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

The 2LT adds power-folding side mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming, a head-up display, position memory settings (for the steering wheel, side mirrors, and front seats), a performance data screen and video recorder, a universal garage door opener, and a wireless phone charger. The 3LT comes with leather upholstery, enhanced GT2 sport seats with carbon-fiber trim, and suede and microfiber-wrapped upper interior trim. A few active safety aids are issued as well. The 1LT only gets rear parking assist, which the 2LT and 3LT also get along with a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.

Multimedia Systems

The 1LT has the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System, which includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, voice recognition, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a premium 10-speaker Bose sound system. The 2LT and 3LT both get the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium System, which contains navigation, enhanced voice recognition, and an upgraded 14-speaker Bose system.

Optional Features

The ’22 Corvette Stingray is eligible for some significant upgrades, the most notable of which are bundled in the track-ready Z51 Performance Package. It provides Brembo performance brakes, enhanced suspension tuning, a performance exhaust, a performance rear axle ratio, an electronic limited-slip differential, a front splitter and rear spoiler, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, and a heavy-duty cooling system. Other enticing add-ons consist of a front lift system (which raises the front end by about 2 inches at low speeds), competition-inspired bucket seats, and adaptive suspension dampers.
