2022 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale in Warwick
Chevy’s fan-favorite Equinox has returned for model year 2022 with some noteworthy new features. While the core appeal of this vehicle remains – its combination of agile handling, stylish looks, and abundant space – this latest version has a refreshed appearance. It has new front and rear bumpers, a new grille design, new LED headlights, and new LED daytime running lights. It’s even better equipped as well, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now standard. A few additional driver aids have been included to increase overall driver confidence, and a new trim level, the RS, joins the LS, LT, and Premier. This new choice is marked by sleek black exterior trim, darkened 19-inch wheels, a black interior with red stitching, and a trim-exclusive shift knob. To top it off, the Premier trim now has a black grille with chrome inserts, new available 19-inch wheel designs, and a special interior treatment with French-style stitching.
Trims and Powertrain
As mentioned, the ‘22 Equinox’s trim lineup consists of the LS, LT, RS, and Premier. All come with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 170 hp and 203 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is a popular option here in New England. With FWD, the Equinox returns an EPA-rated 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Those with AWD achieve 25 city/30 highway. If you need to pull a small trailer or boat, note that the Equinox can tow up to 1,500 pounds.
Comfort and convenience are a priority in the ’22 Equinox, and Chevy has been generous with the standard equipment. The LS gets 17-inch wheels, automatic on/off LED headlights, heated side mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, two 12-volt power outlets (one in the front and one in the cargo area), active noise-canceling technology, four USB ports (two charging and two data), a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 60/40-split fold-flat rear seat. The LT has a little bit more, with remote start, deep-tinted rear glass, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an overhead console sunglasses holder. The debuting RS trim gains some upgrades in the form of 19-inch wheels, black bowtie emblems, a power liftgate, rooftop rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a universal home remote.
The Premier loses the black bowtie emblems and replaces the 19-inch wheels with 18-inchers. It earns its top spot on the roster with a hands-free liftgate, turn-signal indicators and position memory for the side mirrors, a 120-volt power outlet, a heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, memory functions for the driver’s seat, and perforated-leather seat trim. Plus, its backup camera is upgraded to high-definition (some of these high-end features are available for the lower trims as options). Buyers can go the a la carte route to add ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and a panoramic moonroof.
Ground-Breaking Safety and Technology
Chevy Safety Assist is standard in all trims, equipping the Equinox with automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, a following distance indicator, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Every trim also has Chevy Teen Driver, a built-in system that can help coach new drivers by monitoring driving habits and sharing data with parents. The RS and Premier receive rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change alert with side blind-zone alert and are eligible for adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera system. Some of those deluxe driver aids can be added to the lower trims, too.
For entertainment and information, the LS, LT, and RS get an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, voice recognition, a six-speaker audio system, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Premier ramps up to an 8-inch touchscreen, and it’s eligible along with the RS for the optional seven-speaker Bose sound system and integrated navigation.
