The ‘25 Malibu lineup consists of the LS, RS, 1LT, and 2LT. The powertrain is the same across this lineup: a turbocharged 4-cylinder and a continuous variable transmission. This powertrain is capable of producing up to 163 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. A front-wheel drivetrain is standard, as is StabiliTrak, an electronic stability control system with traction control. Although Chevrolet hadn’t posted fuel economy numbers for the ‘25 Malibu by the time of this writing, the previous model had EPA-estimated ratings of 28 mpg city/36 mpg highway with the same powertrain.
The feature set for the LS includes remote start with climate control activation, keyless open, an 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen, front bucket seats, premium cloth upholstery, a day/night rearview mirror, a 12-volt power outlet, daytime running lights, and 16-inch aluminum wheels. The RS has 18-inch aluminum wheels, blacked-out badging, a black grille surrounded by chrome, a dual-outlet exhaust, a rear spoiler, a wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-way power driver’s seat.
The 1LT gets heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated power outside mirrors, LED daytime running lights, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The 2LT’s exterior is changed with 19-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and bright sill plates, while its cabin gains heated and ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory, a 6-way power passenger’s seat, a leather-wrapped shift knob, a wrapped and heated steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, wireless device charging, an 8-inch color driver information center, a USB charging port, and a 120-volt power outlet. A dual-pane power sunroof is an available upgrade for the 1LT and 2LT.
There are also three appearance-driven packages available for the 1LT and 2LT, each with its own distinctive design concept. The Midnight Edition has a dark theme with 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels and all-season blackwall tires, Mosaic Black Metallic paint, a blacked-out grille surround by dark chrome, black badges, and a Jet Black interior. The Sport Edition adds a touch of sophisticated contrast to lighter paint colors with darkened accents like a black grille with a dark chrome surround, 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels and all-season blackwall tires, blacked-out badging, and Jet Black upholstery. The third is a design treatment popularized by legendary nameplates like the Camaro and Silverado, and it includes the following elements: a Jet Black interior, 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels with red hash marks, all-season blackwall tires, a blacked-out grille, black mirror caps with Redline graphics, front and rear black Chevy bowtie emblems, and black Malibu badging with a red outline. The Redline Edition can be had in Mosaic Black Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, or Summit White paint colors.
Every ‘25 Malibu is well-appointed with active and passive safety features courtesy of Chevy Safety Assist. This suite includes technologies such as automatic emergency braking, following distance indicator, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, lane keeping assist with lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. Also standard are rear park assist, rear seat reminder, and GM’s Teen Driver technology, which provides parents with an in-vehicle “report card” and activates certain safety systems via a designated key fob. All trims can be outfitted with the optional rear cross-traffic alert and lane change alert with side blind-zone alert. The 2LT is eligible for the available Driver Confidence and Cruise Package, which includes adaptive cruise control, automatic parking, and enhanced automatic emergency braking.
The LS, RS, and 1LT are given the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Plus System, a technology hub that comes with an 8-inch diagonal color touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth audio streaming, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and a voice command pass-through to compatible smartphones. The 1LT and 2LT get a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. The 2LT receives an upgraded version of the infotainment array with an 8-inch HD color touchscreen, a connected navigation system with enhanced voice recognition, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, and cloud-connected personalization options for certain vehicle settings and infotainment features.
