Trims and Powertrains

The Chevrolet Suburban is a three-row SUV offered in trim packages called LS, LT, Z71, RST, Premier, and High Country. There are three engines available: a 5.3-liter V8 (355 hp and 383 lb.-ft. of torque), a 6.2-liter V8 (420 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque), and the new 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax turbo-diesel (305 hp and 495 lb.-ft. of torque). The 5.3-liter V8 is standard in all trims but the High Country, which gets the 6.2-liter V8. The RST, Z71, and Premier can be ordered with the 6.2-liter V8, and the Duramax is available for most trims (not the base LS). Each engine pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, and four-wheel drive (4WD) is optional.

Towing

The Suburban’s towing capabilities have been amplified for 2025 with new trailering features, including a trailer tire health monitor, forward path indication (which assists drivers in navigating their trailer using guidelines on the surround-view camera), boat ramp assist, trailer navigation, and a mobile trailering app with load rating information. Not only that, but two distinct towing packages are available: the Advanced Trailering Package, which adds blind-zone steering assist, Hitch View, and a smart trailer integration indicator, and the Max Trailering Package, which includes those features alongside an upgraded cooling system and an integrated brake controller. The ’25 Suburban can tow between 7,700 pounds and 8,200 pounds, with the maximum capacity achievable with the combination of 5.3-liter V8 and RWD.

Standard and Available Features

The LS is the only Suburban that can accommodate nine occupants, thanks to the optional front bench seat for three (a pair of bucket seats comes standard). Chevrolet equips this base trim with a fine array of features, including cloth upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, a wrapped steering wheel, rain-sensing windshield wipers, an 11-inch digital gauge cluster, multiple USB ports (Type-A and Type-C), proximity keyless entry, remote start, two 120V power outlets, LED headlights, roof rails, and heated side mirrors. The LT adds leather upholstery, heated front seats with position memory for the driver, wireless phone charging, and a power liftgate. The rugged Z71 is tailored for off-road enthusiasts with its all-terrain tires (Goodyear Wrangler Territory), front and rear skid plates, hill descent control, two-speed transfer case, red recovery hooks, and high-approach front fascia. It also has assist steps, LED fog lights, and a universal garage door opener.

The RST doesn’t have the Z71’s trail-conquering attributes, but it gets most everything else, plus perforated leather upholstery. The Premier is even more refined, providing ventilated front seats, a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, heated power second-row captain’s chairs (this reduces the seating capacity from eight to seven), a power third-row seat, a power-sliding center console, power-folding side mirrors with driver’s-side auto-dimming, position memory (for the side mirrors and steering wheel), and special exterior lighting animations. At the top of the range, the High Country gets a 15-inch head-up display, Magnetic Ride Control, and a rear camera mirror.

Several of those top-trim features are available for the lower trims as options. Some of those are a rear entertainment system, a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free liftgate, an adaptive air-ride suspension, and an electronic limited-slip differential.

Advanced Safety Features

Every 2025 Suburban comes loaded with standard driver-assistance features, including a surround-view camera, automatic parking assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic braking, rear pedestrian alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a safety alert seat, and a rear seat reminder. The LT, RST, Premier, and High Country are all eligible for GM’s Super Cruise driving system, which enables hands-free driving on compatible roadways in North America.

Infotainment and Connectivity

As mentioned in the introduction, multimedia management in the all-new Suburban happens via a best-in-class 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google built-in, giving you streamlined access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store. This system also has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, natural voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. A six-speaker audio system is standard in most trims, but the Premier and High Country are enhanced with a Bose upgrade with ten speakers and CenterPoint surround sound (this is optional on all other trims except the LS).
