Trims and Powertrains

Chevy plans to release the Tahoe in six trim packages: LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. While Chevrolet will still offer a 5.3-liter V8 engine (for the LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier) and a 6.2-liter V8 standard on High Country (available on RST, Z71, and Premier), the new 3.0-liter inline-six Duramax turbo-diesel engine will be optional for every trim. This powerplant puts out 305 horsepower (10% more) and 495 lb.-ft. of torque (7.6% more) and pairs with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The added power comes from the high-flow fuel injectors, revamped piston-cooling oil jets, improved temperature control, and new steel pistons. Chevy’s engineers tweaked the absorption materials and the induction system to ensure that the diesel engine provides plenty of power while also refining it to be quieter.

Ride quality was also enhanced, with most credit going to the updated multilink independent rear suspension. Newly released steering calibration adjustments also ensure a more confident handling experience. Magnetic Ride Control and the Air Ride Adaptive Suspension will also return on select trims.

Towing

Because towing is essential in this vehicle segment, the 2025 Tahoe will have an integrated brake controller, a high-capacity radiator/cooling fan, hill descent control, and a hitch view monitor for better visibility. The mobile app will include access to the trailer tire condition and load rating info for a safer experience. The Forward Path Indication feature will also help with trailer negotiation, with the support of the Surround View monitor. Further, Chevy offers Boat Ramp Assist in conjunction with the trailering app and Trailer Navigation, which calculates the best route for the load. Expect the maximum towing capacity for the 2025 Tahoe to remain at 8,400 pounds.

Appearance and Features

The 2025 Tahoe will show off an updated front fascia and new lighting (front and rear) for a freshened look. Chevrolet has also given the daytime running lights a thinner and more modern look, although they appear more prominent because of the angled prism built in to the structure. Another aspect of the Tahoe’s new look is the dual C-shaped light fixtures, a change that follows other aesthetic updates in the Chevrolet lineup. The Premier and High Country will get further touches with special lighting and turn signal animation happening during standard welcome or walk-away prompt. Look for the Z71 to have a high-approach front fascia and incorporated skid plates, while the High Country offers a more enhanced sporty-luxury style with its black trim and Galvano chrome. The High Country and RST will be eligible for statement-making 24-inch wheels.

The convenient AutoSense power liftgate will be offered as well to make loading easier, as it will automatically open the liftgate when it senses that the key fob is near the rear bumper. All trims will have a 11-inch driver information center and a redesigned steering wheel, while the wireless device charger (available) will make life easier with its improved placement.

Technology for Safety and Connectivity

The Tahoe continues to include the Safety Assist system of driver-assist technologies, including enhanced automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, an HD surround-vision camera, the Teen Driver system, enhanced automatic parking assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Super Cruise will be available shortly after launch, allowing for hands-free driving on more than 400,000 miles of compatible divided highways. Chevy has also updated the technology that detects if a passenger or pet has been left behind in the vehicle.

The brand-new 17.7-inch diagonal infotainment screen – which, as mentioned above, will become the largest in this class – is slated to be standard on the 2025 Tahoe. This system will also be connected to OnStar for a better user experience, with more convenience and entertainment features, such as HD streaming.
