Equinox buyers can choose from the LS, LT, RS, and Premier trims. All versions come with a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 175 horsepower (five more horsepower than last year). A six-speed automatic transmission manages the standard front-wheel drive (FWD) or available all-wheel drive (AWD). The maximum towing capacity is 1,500 pounds – enough for a small trailer. The EPA’s official fuel economy estimate for trims with FWD is 26 mpg around town and 31 mpg on the open road. AWD takes that an iota down to 24 city/30 highway.
Starting off the Equinox lineup is the LS trim with a mix of nice attributes such as LED headlights with auto on/off, heated power side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, manual air conditioning, four-way manually adjustable front seats, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, sound-reducing reflective windshield glass, and 17-inch aluminum wheels. The available LS Convenience Package adds an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar controls, a color driver information display, and rear privacy glass.
The LT includes everything from the LS with the Convenience Package plus an overhead console, illuminated sun visors, additional exterior accents, and rear-seat folding levers. Buyers can add the Confidence & Convenience Package for dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, a power liftgate, remote start, a wrapped steering wheel, and additional safety technology (which is described below). For the RS, Chevrolet incorporates the features of the LT with the Confidence & Convenience Package and adds black exterior accents, LED taillights, unique interior trim, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. The optional RS Leather Package adds perforated leather upholstery with red accents and additional infotainment equipment (detailed below).
The Premier also starts with the same equipment as the Lt (including the Confidence & Convenience Package) but is elevated with perforated leather-trimmed seating, a hands-free liftgate, fog lights, a heated steering wheel, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. This trim is eligible for the Confidence & Convenience II Package (ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, an eight-way power front passenger seat with lumbar controls, and additional driver aids).
Chevy Safety is standard on every 2023 Equinox. This collection of advanced driver aids includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator, and automatic high beams. The Driver Confidence Package is optional on the LS and included with the Confidence & Convenience Package (which is also standard on the RS and Premier). This grouping adds rear parking sensors on the LS and front and rear parking sensors on the higher trims. The Driver Confidence II Package (which adds rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change alert with side blind-spot alert) is optional on the LT and standard with the RS.
The Premier-only Confidence & Convenience II Package includes semi-autonomous parking support, a surround-view monitor, and adaptive cruise control. The surround-view monitor and adaptive cruise control are optional on the LT and RS. The Premier also gets the Safety Alert Seat, a vibrating driver’s seat that activates when there’s an obstacle ahead.
The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system is standard in the LS, LT, and RT with a 7-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity. Standard on the Premier (and available on the LT and RS) is the Infotainment 3 Plus system with an 8-inch touchscreen and Alexa Built-in. Navigation is optional with the upgraded system. A seven-speaker Bose sound system is optional on the RS (part of the RS Leather Package) and Premier. All Equinox trims come with SiriusXM satellite radio, multiple USB ports, Chevrolet Connected Access services, and an available Wi-Fi hotspot. The Premier is the only trim with wireless device charging.
