2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV Jellybean

After the discontinuation of the Chevy Bolt, the Equinox EV stepped in as Chevrolet’s new entry-level electric vehicle. While it shares its name with the gasoline-powered Equinox, the similarities between the two are minimal, aside from their somewhat comparable designs. The Equinox EV stands out with its emissions-free powertrain, offering an attractive range of up to 319 miles while producing as much as 300 horsepower (with the available dual-motor powertrain). This blend of efficiency and performance makes it an appealing choice for eco-conscious buyers who place high value on spirited driving dynamics. Plus, the Equinox EV is packed with advanced features and is protected by an 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty for added peace of mind.

Although the Equinox EV is only in its second model year, Chevy has made some improvements for 2025. Front-wheel drive versions now produce 260 horsepower (up from 213 hp), while all-wheel drive models jump to 300 horsepower (up from 288 hp). What’s more, Chevy has simplified its lineup to three trims, LT 1, LT 2, and RS, allowing buyers to choose from an array of optional packages if they want additional features.

Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

The 2025 Equinox EV is a compact, five-passenger electric crossover available in trim levels called LT 1, LT 2, and RS. The standard setup consists of a single motor and a front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) for an output of 260 horsepower. The available dual-motor powerplant and all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) configuration produces 300 horsepower.

The FWD setup provides an EPA-estimated 319 miles of range, while the AWD configuration reaches 307 miles. For optimized energy efficiency, the Equinox EV features Regen on Demand, which converts braking energy into electricity for the battery. It also supports one-pedal driving, allowing drivers to slow down and stop using only the accelerator pedal, further maximizing range.

Standard and Available Features

The base LT 1 is nicely equipped with a number of amenities for convenience, including proximity keyless entry, remote start, power-adjustable side mirrors, and automatic climate control (one zone). It also has cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, a 60/40-split flat-folding second-row seatback with a retractable center armrest and two cup holders, an 11-inch digital driver information display, four USB-C ports (two data and two charging), full LED exterior lights (headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights), rear privacy glass, and 19-inch aluminum wheels.

The LT 2 gains EvoTex upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated wrapped steering wheel, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, multi-color ambient interior lighting, a power liftgate (AutoSense), heated power side mirrors, roof-mounted side rails, a slim LED light bar, and additional amenities for towing: trailer pre-wiring and Hitch View and Hitch Guidance technology. It’s also eligible for a two-tone paint treatment. The RS has everything from the LT 2, but it’s distinguished by its sportier aesthetic (flat-bottomed steering wheel, black exterior trim, and 21-inch black-painted wheels).

Some of those upgrades listed for the LT 2 and RS can be added to the LT through the available Comfort Package. The LT 2 and RS are eligible for further upgrades, including dual-zone automatic climate control and a universal home remote.

Advanced Safety Features

Chevrolet prioritizes safety by installing a multitude of standard driver-assistance features in the ‘25 Equinox EV. The standard Chevy Safety Assist package consists of forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking (with front pedestrian/bicyclist detection and intersection assist), a following distance indicator, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams. All trims also get lane keep assist with lane departure warning, rear parking sensors, reverse automatic braking, rear cross-traffic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and adaptive cruise control.

The LT 2 and RS come with the Active Safety Package 2, which is optional for the LT. This grouping will add an HD surround-view camera, enhanced automatic emergency braking, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic sign recognition. The LT 2 and RS are eligible for the Active Safety Package 3, which includes automatic parking assistance and Chevy’s Super Cruise hands-free driving technology.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The 2025 Equinox EV leads its class with a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s based on Google built-in technology (Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play Store). Along with that, it has onboard navigation, natural voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 5G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and an audio system with six speakers.
