The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 offers the broad range of capabilities and configurations that buyers of full-sized truck expect, with targeted updates for the new model year. The RST trim now offers an optional Select Special Edition Package that adds a spray-on bedliner and other equipment. Meanwhile, the off-road-capable ZR2 receives more standard equipment, including the Multi-Flex Tailgate and a head-up display. The Silverado 1500 lineup spans nine trim levels: WT (Work Truck), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2, and High Country. Three cab styles are offered – regular cab, double cab, and crew cab – along with bed lengths labeled short (69.9 inches, crew cab only), standard (79.4 inches), and long (98.2 inches, regular cab only) beds; availability varies by trim and powertrain. The engine choices include the TurboMax 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 310 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque, a 5.3-liter V8 at 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft., a 6.2-liter V8 at 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft., and the 3.0-liter Duramax inline-six turbodiesel at 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. The TurboMax pairs with an eight-speed automatic, while the V8s and the Duramax use a ten-speed automatic.
Rear-wheel drive is standard on most trims; four-wheel drive is available and included with the Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2. The maximum towing capacity for a properly equipped Silverado 1500 reaches up to 13,300 pounds, and the payload capacity extends to as much as 2,260 pounds.
Fuel economy with the TurboMax engine returns 17 to 19 mpg in the city and 18 to 22 mpg on the highway. The 5.3-liter V8 is rated for 15 to 17 mpg around town and 19 to 21 mpg on the open road. The 6.2-liter V8 comes in at 14 to 16 mpg in the city and 17 to 20 mpg on the highway. The Duramax diesel achieves 21 to 24 mpg in the city and 23 to 29 mpg on the highway. Fuel efficiency, towing capability, and payload capacity vary depending on the engine, drivetrain, cab style, and equipment.
Standard Features
The WT trim is set up for straightforward work use with a 40/20/40 split-folding front bench, vinyl upholstery, single-zone air conditioning, push-button ignition, automatic headlights (halogen), black bumpers, and a locking tailgate. This base edition also has a 3.5-inch driver information display, dual USB ports, heated power side mirrors (regular cab), vinyl flooring, and 17-inch steel wheels. The Custom adds niceties such as remote start, cloth upholstery, a ten-way power driver’s seat, cruise control, carpeted flooring, a rear window defogger, a power locking and release tailgate, four USB ports (two per row), a trailering package, body-color bumpers, a manual-tilt steering wheel, rear privacy glass, an anti-theft system, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
Configured for more off-pavement travels, the Custom Trail Boss builds on the Custom with a trail-tuned suspension, a factory-installed 2-inch lift, monotube shocks, an automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, hill descent control, black exterior accents, and 18-inch black aluminum wheels with mud-terrain tires. It also includes a two-speed transfer case as part of its off-road setup. The LT gets a more premium treatment with heated front seats (driver and outboard passenger), a ten-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, proximity keyless entry, a 12.3-inch configurable digital instrument display, an EZ Lift assist tailgate, a trailer brake controller, chrome bumpers, LED headlights, and 17-inch wheels.
The RST shares many items from the LT’s equipment list while taking on a sportier look with body-color bumpers and exterior trim, signature LED taillights, LED fog lamps, black exterior treatments, and 18-inch bright aluminum wheels. For 2026, the RST can be optioned with the Select Special Edition package, which adds a factory spray-on bedliner, 4-inch round assist steps, and 20-inch gloss-black wheels fitted with all-terrain tires. The LT Trail Boss combines the LT’s cabin upgrades with the Custom Trail Boss hardware, including the factory 2-inch lift, off-road suspension, and two-speed transfer case. It also adds high-gloss black bumpers and further blacked-out exterior elements. The LTZ leans into luxury with perforated leather-trimmed seats, heated and ventilated front seats with ten-way power controls, a heated steering wheel, a driver’s memory system, a power-operated tailgate, wireless phone charging, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, heated power-folding side mirrors, chrome exterior accents, a high-capacity suspension, and 20-inch painted aluminum wheels.
Set up for serious off-road use from the factory, the ZR2 features a high-performance suspension with a factory lift and Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear electronic locking differentials, a two-speed terrain-mode transfer case, aluminum skid plates, unique front and rear bumpers for improved approach and departure angles, a spray-on bedliner, and exclusive 18-inch wheels wearing 33-inch mud-terrain tires. As an improvement for 2026, the ZR2’s standard equipment expands to include the Multi-Flex Tailgate, a head-up display, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering column, and a digital rearview mirror. At the top of the range, the High Country expands on the LTZ with a spray-on bedliner, heated rear outboard seats, a power-sliding rear window, additional chrome accents, and an exclusive grille design.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Every Silverado 1500 has Chevy Safety Assist installed. This safety-tech suite bundles forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, automatic high beams, and a rear seat reminder. Rear cross-traffic braking, rear pedestrian alert, front and rear parking sensors, and trailer side blind-zone alert are standard on the LTZ, ZR2, and High Country, and available on the WT, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss. Adaptive cruise control can be added to most trims and is included with the ZR2 and High Country. The Safety Alert Seat uses seat vibrations for warnings and is standard on the LTZ, ZR2, and High Country. A surround-view camera system is included with the ZR2, LTZ, and High Country and available on the LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss. Super Cruise hands-free highway driving is an exclusive option on the High Country. The entire lineup receives airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss use a 7-inch touchscreen that’s used to manage wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to OnStar services. The LT and above step up to a 13.4-inch touchscreen paired with Google built-in features (Assistant, Maps, and Play). The audio system varies by trim level, from the basic two-speaker setup in the regular cab WT to a seven-speaker Bose system available on the RST and LT Trail Boss and standard on the LTZ, ZR2, and High Country. SiriusXM satellite radio is optional on the WT and included on the higher trims.
