2026 Chevrolet Traverse Jellybean

For over a decade and a half, the Chevrolet Traverse has been a mainstay in the midsized crossover segment. With ample three-row seating, this popular model cleverly occupies a space between smaller utilities and full-sized SUVs. In 2024, Chevrolet reinvented the Traverse with an all-new third-generation that borrows design cues from its larger Tahoe and Suburban siblings. Engineers also went to work under the hood, introducing potent turbocharging technology that gives the Traverse V6-like power without paying extra at the pump. For 2026, Chevy has upped the convenience factor, adding the availability of a key card (a credit card-like device that allows vehicle access and starting). In addition, a digital rearview mirror is now an option on lower trims.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is made in four trims: LT, Z71, High Country, and RS. All of them get their power from a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 328 horsepower. Most trims have standard front-wheel drive (FWD), with all-wheel drive (AWD) included with the Z71 and optional on the other grades. Both drivetrains are managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission.

With FWD, the Traverse is EPA-rated for 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The ratings change to 19 mpg around town and 24 mpg on the open road with AWD. The Traverse has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Cargo volume starts at 22.9 cubic feet behind the third row and expands to 56.6 cubic feet when these seats are folded. Behind the first row, the Traverse has 97.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

Standard Features

The seven-passenger LT is well outfitted with remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless device charging, a hands-free power liftgate, an eight-way power driver's seat, fabric upholstery, automatic LED headlights, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The long equipment list continues with rear air conditioning, an 11-inch driver information display, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, rear privacy glass, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, multiple USB ports, a trailer hitch, and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The Z71 brings in some off-pavement capabilities with an advanced twin-clutch AWD system, a fully independent suspension, red tow hooks, and hill descent control. Its features include Evotex leatherette upholstery, unique exterior treatments, and 18-inch black-finished wheels with all-terrain tires.

The High Country expands on the LT’s features with second-row bucket seats (for six-passenger seating), perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, roof rails, power-folding side mirrors, LED taillights, rain-sensing automatic windshield wipers, a digital rearview mirror, a driver's memory system, a six-way power front passenger seat, heated second-row outboard seats, and front-seat power lumbar controls. It also has a power-folding 60/40 split-folding third-row bench seat, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a key card, a 120-volt outlet, exclusive exterior accents, active noise cancellation, and 22-inch wheels. The RS is outfitted similarly to the High Country except that it swaps luxury accents for a more athletic look with black-themed exterior styling, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and other trim-specific treatments.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Chevy Safety Assist is an extensive collection of sophisticated driver-aid technologies. It’s standard on every 2026 Traverse and consists of forward collision alert, enhanced automatic emergency braking, intersection automatic emergency braking, blind zone steering assist, rear cross-traffic braking, reverse automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, front pedestrian and bicyclist braking, and side bicyclist alert. The driver-assistance features continue with a following distance indicator, rear parking sensors, LED windshield collision alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. The High Country and RS also get a surround-view monitor, rear pedestrian alert, automatic parking assist, driver attention assist, and traffic sign recognition. Super Cruise hands-free highway driving is standard with the High Country and RS and optional on the LT and Z71.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The prominent 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen is front and center in every 2026 Traverse trim. This system has Google built-in features with navigation and app support, phone integration, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to OnStar services. The LT and Z71 receive a six-speaker audio system that can be upgraded to a ten-speaker Bose sound system, which is standard with the higher trims.
